Details: Doryanthes Excelsa Gymea Lily is an evergreen shrub or small tree growing to 6-8 m tall. The leaves are strap-like, with a sharp point on the end. The flowers are borne in a nodding inflorescence at the end of the leafy stems. They are tubular and bright red, with six petal-like tepals which open outwards into star shapes.. The Gymea lily is an evergreen foliage plant, with sword-like leaves that grow over 1m in length. It has a clumping, upright narrow habit, also producing a huge red flower head in spring. Perfectly used as a feature plant and just as impressive mass planted. This plant can grow in full sun/part shade in a loam, sandy, well-drained soil.
